Tami Unsworth started her career in insurance in 1997 with the Heffernan Group and has held several different positions within the company including being an integral part of the Healthcare division. Starting as an Assistant Account Manager and promoted to Account Manager, Tami's responsibilities grew to include marketing renewals, negotiating terms and pricing, premium/coverage comparisons and financing, policy changes, invoicing, claim reporting and all aspects of account service. Several years ago, Tami decided to focus her attention in commercial sales.

Since joining Special Accounts she has been a sales leader and mentor for this growing division. Her primary niche is Home Health Care and small commercial businesses. Through Heffernan, Tami participates in memberships in CAHSAH (CA Assn. of Health Services at Home), NPDA (National Private Duty Assn.) and NAHC (National Assn. of Home Care & Hospice). In her spare time, Tami works as an Events & Hospitality Specialist for Roche Winery in Sonoma, and serves as Secretary to Diablo Referral Partners, a networking group for professionals.

Melani Conti

Melani Conti is Senior Vice President of Heffernan Insurance Brokers, involved in structuring insurance programs for large commercial clients, with a focus on forming and growing specialty programs. She is responsible for the development of two of the company’s largest group programs: Goodwill Industries Program & Homecare Program. While continuing to develop these programs, Conti is also involved in overseeing our non-profit program division and continues to develop HIB’s healthcare practice.

With over 25 years in the insurance business, Melani’s background includes experience with personal lines and also commercial insurance service for the country’s 5th largest national brokerage agency, at the time. She also gained additional valuable experience in a surplus lines firm.

A shareholder in Heffernan Insurance Brokers, Melani continues to support the continued growth of the agency, involving herself in projects such as mentoring young insurance professionals and serving on insurance carrier advisory boards. Born and raised in San Diego, she currently resides in Lafayette, where she enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Steve Parkhurst

Steve Parkhurst was hired as a Sales Producer for Heffernan Insurance Brokers in early 2008. Quick to excel, he was promoted shortly after joining the HIB team. Steve's main niche focuses are with the Healthcare and Nonprofit Industries, although his expertise spreads beyond that. His specialty is structuring large commercial insurance programs for a wide variety of clients in various industries. Steve loves working at Heffernan because of the people, the culture and the support that the company gives all of its employees. He also is very proud of Heffernan for the impact that they have on the community with various donations, grants, volunteering and fundraisers.

Steve has a B.A. from San Diego State University, and has lived in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years. In October of 2009 he married his sweetheart of 7 years in a Walnut Creek backyard wedding on Lakewood. A huge supporter of his Bay Area community, Steve has coached basketball camps, been a camp counselor and donates his time and effort whenever possible.

Lynn Garaventa has been with Heffernan Insurance since 2008 working in a sales role in the small business division as a Commercial Broker. Prior to this, she has worked for a major national insurance carrier as Operations Account Manager in both the Northern and Southern California territories.

She has worked with a variety of industries, with her main focus being in the home health care industry.

Lynn graduated from University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and a minor in Management. She has been a classically trained dancer for 20 years and continues to dance weekly.
