Named a Healthiest Employer in Three States

Our Oregon office, Missouri office and our Bay Area offices have all been recognized as a 2013 “Healthiest Employer” recipient. To date we have only received our ranking from the San Francisco Business Times, and are excited to announce that we bumped up from 9th to 4th  place this year for our business size category.

What makes us so healthy?

Maybe it’s the fact that we have an in house Director of Wellness or because we promote and encourage our employees to be healthy through our Wellness@Work initiative initiative, resulting in over 70% participation in our corporate program.

  1. We love wellness-based philanthropy! This was the seventh year we had a Heffernan group of walkers participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. The ALS Walk, Echelon Gran Fondo and Nike Women’s Half Marathon are a few of the other events we participate in yearly.
  2. To each their own. We let each of our offices pick the wellness activity of their choice. For example, our Walnut Creek office loves Zumba and our Petaluma office gets their collective butt kicked at Boot Camp every week.
  3. Hit it and quit it. Our employees are now able to hit the gym "on us," through our gym subsidy program. And by 2014 we will be smoke free in all of our buildings.
  4. +3Network. This online portal is a social networking community specifically for Heffernan employees. Last year we turned our sweat equity in to $50,000 of charitable giving and are on track to hit that mark again. This means that logging an hour workout earns $1.35 for charity. It all adds up and we have over 60 percent of employees actively logging!

Through all of these activities we fufill the mantra of our wellness initiative which is: Live well. Train hard. And give back!
