Heffernan Insurance Brokers Named Healthiest Employers Finalist by St. Louis Business Journal
ST. LOUIS, Dec. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Heffernan Insurance Brokers has been selected as a finalist in the St. Louis Business Journal's 'Healthiest Employers' for 2011 in Category 4 (100 – 499 employees).
This year's contest was the inaugural competition for the St. Louis Business Journal, in keeping with the growing focus of companies in St. Louis and across the nation on keeping workforces and families fit. St. Louis companies were invited to participate in a survey that measured their wellness initiatives. Data was measured in six categories: commitment, components, planning, communications, programming and analysis. The top scoring companies in each category were selected as finalists.
As part of their Wellness@Work program, Heffernan employees can attend classes on topics ranging from nutrition and healthy weight loss, to heart-rate training, to yoga and self defense. Information about wellness activities and events are distributed through a monthly wellness newsletter, which also includes information about topics such as health screenings and injury prevention. Heffernan employees have access to one-on-one personalized fitness consultations, as well as programs focusing on issues that impact health, including tobacco cessation, stress management, and relaxation techniques. Heffernan also encourages its employees to be active in the community. This year, twelve employees from Heffernan's St. Louis office participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS event.
