Helping Nonprofits: Corporate Outreach IdeasIn 2014, Heffernan Foundation, the charitable giving program for Heffernan Insurance Brokers, began their Grant – a – Wish program in order to create remarkable memories for children in need. Today, the Heffernan Foundation’s Grant – a – wish program has provided 10 families with an experience to remember.
Grant – a – Wish
Each year, Heffernan Foundation board members put on their wings and grant a wish to two deserving individuals and/or families with children ages 4 – 18, who have endured a hardship in their lives. Heffernan Foundation’s goal is to provide a happy, lasting memory for the family chosen.
The chosen recipients are then able to decide what they would like to do with their wish, which in the past have included the following:
- Disneyland/world
- Day camps
- Day on the Bay and San Francisco Giants game
- Dinosaur Dig in Colorado
In 2018, our Grant – a – Wish recipient, Vincenzo, and his family visited Snooks Bottom and Highline State Park in Fruita, Colorado. On top of a couple days of swimming and paddle boarding, they enjoyed a day at Dinosaur Journey where they dug for plant fossils and small bones. Vincenzo helped clean off fossils in the lab and loved finding bones. The trip showered Vincenzo with attention and love for four days and his family enjoyed the memorable trip.
This year, our 2019 recipient Jenna, lost her father in a tragic accident at a very young age and was also was seriously injured. To Jenna, her dad was Superman and they adored each other. Their favorite thing to do was to visit theme parks, creating memories riding roller coasters together. Through Heffernan Foundation’s Grant – a – Wish program, Jenna and her family took a trip to Universal Studios, where they brought something special of her dad’s so he was there in spirit with her.
