Insurance for Film and Video Producers
Bringing a production to life carries risk at every stage — from on-set injuries and property damage to disputes over rights, footage, and content once a project is ready to air. Distributors and broadcasters typically require proof of errors and omissions coverage before they’ll take on a project, and property owners require a certificate of insurance before allowing filming on location. Our media insurance program is built to cover producers through the full lifecycle of a production, from pre-production through final distribution.
Errors and Omissions
Generally required by distributors and broadcasters before a program can air or be distributed. This includes confirming you’ve secured the necessary clearances for actors, music, and script rights, with coverage designed to extend across the full rights period for a single premium.
General Liability
Protection against bodily injury or property damage claims from the public. Property owners and municipalities typically require a certificate of insurance before permitting on-location filming.
Equipment, Props, Sets, and Wardrobe
Covers direct physical loss to listed production property, with replacement cost coverage (no depreciation deduction) and accidental breakage protection. Rental equipment firms generally require proof of this coverage before releasing gear.
Faulty Stock, Camera, and Processing
Reimburses reshoot costs when exposed film or videotape is damaged by fogging, faulty developing, faulty editing, or erasure.
Negative Film and Videotape
Companion coverage to Faulty Stock, reimbursing reshoot expenses from direct physical loss or damage to exposed film and recorded material.
Third-Party Property Damage
Covers borrowed property in your care, custody, or control — for example, a valuable painting or sculpture used as a scene background.
Extra Expense
Covers added costs — rental equipment, staff expenses, lodging — when a production location becomes unavailable due to damage.
Workers’ Compensation
Required in most states for employees, and recommended when working with independent contractors who lack their own coverage.
